Hemerocallis altisima is a little-known nocturnal daylily from the Purple Mountains in southwest China. It has 24 inch high strappy foliage topped with extremely tall stems up to four feet high bearing fragrant, lemon yellow flowers that open in the evening and close the following morning. Shall we call it a nightlily?Blooms from June through August. Deadhead to encourage more flowers. Easy care. Tolerates a wide range of soils. Plant in garden beds along walkways and around patios or in containers where the flowers and their fragrance can be enjoyed in the evening. Hemerocallis petals are edible and great in salads. Pollinator attractor.
