Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Has deep green margins on the leaves with bright golden centers to each leaf. Very tough. Our plant gets little water in sandy soil and is very happy. Great for cut foliage for flower arrangements.
?This shrub (to 15') is probably the most ornamental and striking of all variegated evergreens?; its glossy leaves variously splashed with a rich gold give a ?bright and pleasing effect in mid-winter? (Bean). S/M-D/GDr
I find myself strangely drawn to this plant; I am not sure whether it's the gold centered leathery leaves or the drifting gardenia fragrance, whatever I like it. Dirr on the other hand classes it something of an overdone weed, over planted in the south and climbing by means of hooked spines. It's nothing like that in the North, very well behaved and nearly spineless.
