Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This wonderful nut tree is native to the central and southeastern United States and into Mexico. DeSoto, the conquistador, was the 1st European to find our "largest and kingliest" Carya. The mighty pecan tree is a handsome 75-100' specimen featuring pretty compound leaves that are lush medium-green in summer and pale-yellow in the fall. Pecans are the essence of praline and other delicious nut treats. These long-lived trees can produce 500+ pounds of nut a year and are a fine shade tree. S/M
