Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Wallich's Wood Fern-In our garden, plants get 2'x2' and are deep green and vase shaped. One of our favorite ferns. Very beautiful.
"One of the most magnificent of all hardy plants" (G.S. Thomas); breath- taking with gold-green fronds (to 3-4') contrasting intricately against their darkly shagged rachis (stem). Sh-PSh/M
Dryopteris wallichiana features large, vase-shaped evergreen fern with flattened, gold-green fronds that mature to dark green. Fronds are often used in flower arrangements. Ferns thrive in neutral to acidic, loose, richly organic soil. Wallich’s Wood Fern is excellent for mass plantings, rock gardens, containers, in woodlands, and naturalized landscapes.
Semi-evergreen, black scales, moss green fronds Zone 5-9. 2'-4', Mexico, part shade-shade, moist, well drained
Arching mound of stiff, handsome dark green fronds with reddish black stems & scales: Very decorative in shady gardens or woodland settings. Plant in low sun to full shade & moist, well drained soil. Zones 6 to 8. Height: 21/2 to 5 feet tall. Evergreen.
This fern is well-suited to the shade garden, where its graceful arching fronds may reach 4 feet or more in length. Vase-shaped, it presents a tall but narrow profile, fitting well in the small garden. Evergreen in mild winters and more consistently so once established but in harsh conditions can be semi-evergreen, recovering quickly in spring. Enjoys rich soil in cool, part to full shade with consistent summer water for best growth. Frost hardy to USDA zone 5.
One of the 10 ferns we would have if we were forced to choose and we pray it never comes to that but this one would make the cut. Usually evergreen here with very handsome fronds in a robust yet refined vase shape to 3' or more. A simple trimming in spring and you're good to go.
A large fern with stately 3-4' fronds with dark stems held upright. Semi-evergreen clumps that combine splendidly with hosta.
