Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Great pollinator plant and also seed for the birds in fall. 2-3’ tall stems from tight 18” wide clumps of narrow foliage topped with pale lavender flowers with interesting, slender, drooping petals early summer; dark brown cone centers with a coppery hue. Sun to part shade. Well drained soil, more drought tolerant than rest of genus, deer rest.
Narrow pendulous-petalled flowers of mauve-pink atop 3-5' stalks make a nice show in latte summer and fall; longer-lived as well as taller (than E. purpurea) and once used extensively for medicinal purposes. S/M
Quite different from its robust cousins, this Echinacea's ethereally rayed, pale pink to purple petals drape delicately from a bold brown center. A superb plant for naturalizing en masse, it is equally lovely in a bouquet.
The large showy flowers of Pale Purple Coneflower (Echinacea pallida) are a favorite summer nectar source for butterflies. In fall, birds love it for its delectable seeds. A deep taproot makes this long-lived plant capable of handling hot dry situations with aplomb. Hardy to Zones 4 - 8.
A spectacular species superficially similar to angustifolia but larger overall reaching 4' in height with florets that droop 9cm below the disk. ZONE 5
