Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This is the much-loved marsh marigold of the East, whose bright golden flowers ?gladden our wet meadows every April? (Mrs. Starr-Dana); also used as a pot-herb, the name may have come from Anglo-Saxon ?marsh gold?. S/M-W
OOOPS, a lousy picture of a great plat. Remind me sometime to reshoot it in focus. In the meantime, know that although the "Marsh Marigold" loves moisture it grows well in average garden soil. The moister the soil, the more sun she can take.
A clumping perennial, semi-dormant in Winter. Smooth rounded leaves arise on short stalks from central crowns. In Spring and Summer sprays of bright yellow, buttercup flowers are produced. A bog plant. Keep moist at all times. Provide with plenty of organice matter. May take two years to settle down after transplanting.
