One of the finest trees for autumn color when its large, lustrous, deeply-lobed, glossy-green leaves turn a deep flaming scarlet. This southeast United States native has an open rounded habit and reaches 50-70'; a wonderful drought tolerant and low-maintenance tree for street or shade. S/M-D
Large tree, more tolerant of high pH soils than Pin Oak. In the wild it grows in upland areas. Bright red fall color, persistent leaves, and a round outline at maturity.
Scarlet oak, For fall color this oak is hard to beat, varies some from plant to plant but is indeed scarlet, even our one year plants were brilliant this fall. Eventually reaching over 100' tall and hardy to at least zone 4 it is a great oak.
