The Saucer Magnolia is a hybrid variety with fragrant flowers that feature various shades of purple and pink against white tips. The flowers are large, often reaching 8 inches across and covering the tree before the leaves emerge in spring. During the growing season occasional flowers appear at the end of growth tips. Saucer Magnolias are easily grown in various soil types but prefer even moisture and high organic content. Magnolias do best when protected from frequent heavy winds.
The Saucer Magnolia is a show stopper! The stunning early spring blossoms have been said to open "like a thousand porcelain goblets." Soulangeana is a spreading deciduous shrub. She can also be a tree if the lower branches are kept trimmed. Gorgeous white, pink, or purple blooms appear in spring. The lush summer time leaves are dark green and leathery, adding nice contrast to silvery gray bark. One of the most popular flowering trees in the US and Canada. It is also widely planted in Europe.

Large, fragrant, goblet shaped blooms are purplish outside with a creamy white inside and are lightly fragrant. The fallen petals create a soft pink blanket beneath the tree. Blooms in late winter to early spring. A small to medium sized, often multi-trunked, flowering tree to 20'. Very hardy and easy to grow.
One of the glories of early spring, Saucer Magnolia will flower during the first warm days of the new year. Flowers are large, pink to purplish with white inside. Usually grows as a large multi-stemmed shrub or small tree 10 to 15 foot tall in 10 years.

M. denudata x M. liliiflora. One of the most commonly cultivated Magnolias, this deciduous tree tolerates many difficult soil conditions, including clay. Flowering at an early age of 3-5 years, its tulip-shaped blooms appear April-May, showing shades of white suffused with pink, rose, and purple.

A hybrid of two Asian Magnoilias: M. heptapeta x M. quinquepeta. Typically a very heavy bloomer with large cup like blooms that can be white, pink or a combination. Generally however, pink, unless you're buying a white cultivar. Flowers at a young age. One of the most commonly seen Magnolias on the East Coast and for good reason! A generally multi-trunked Heirloom dating back to the 1820's -- how's that for the test of time! Grows in Zone 4 with protection and mulch.
