Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Moonrise™ Japanese Maple is a stunning maple similar to Autumn Moon, but is more hardy and sun tolerant. The leaves emerge pink/orange in spring, aging to lime green with an orange tint. Fall color is deep orange to red. With it's showy foliage, Moonrise™ Japanese Maple makes an awesome specimen tree in your garden.
Looks like A. shir. 'Aureum' but has peachy colored new growth in spring and early summer. Fall color is orange-red.
Emerging carmine-red before opening to yellow (lime-green in shade), the round lobed leaves of this multi-trunked, low-branching tree (to 18 x 18') are a head-turning sight all season! S-PSh/M PP16718
A fairly new variety that has a coloration similar to 'Autumn Moon', bright red growth in spring, more orange-yellow for summer, but can withstand full sun quite well.
Moonrise was found and propagated by Carl Munn of Munn’s Nursery in Oregon. Moonrise was a chance seedling from Autumn Moon. Moonrise is like Autumn Moon in shape and size, but the new growth display of orange, peach, and crimson-pink color is more vivid than that of Autumn Moon. The leaves are reticulated and show some variegation on individual leaves from light green to gold, bronze and orange. Summer color is yellow-green, gold and orange. Fall color is a softer version of yellow-green and gold. Moonrise grows gracefully as an upright, multibranched dwarf tree about 6-7′ tall and wide. Like Autumn Moon, some shade during the hottest part of the day is preferred. Overall Moonrise has a compact shape, if pruned regularly, that makes it a good selection for a medium-sized garden. Once established hardy to USDA zone 5.

By: Eastfork Nursery

Deciduous, medium sized tree with bright red new foliage that matures to yellow if planted in full sun. In more shade, foliage will be lime green. Fall brings an orange red color to the leaves. In Western Oregon, this tree can be planted in full sun with little leaf scorch. In hotter zones, it will need more shade. Growth Rate medium
This new Japanese Maple variety is really beautiful. Foliage is peach-yellow with striking red new growth. Provides all season color. A real "head turner" in the landscape.
Knockout pink-orange new growth on lime-yellow older growth makes Carl Munn's selection an enduring contribution to horticulture in a field already crowded with too many marginally different Japanese maple varieties. Moonrise is very hardy and a much tougher plant than 'Aureum', withstanding -26 °F in Chicago and also adaptable to shade in Dallas/Fort Worth. The amazing spring and summer foliage color set this maple as absolutely different. Order early to assure an annual supply for your own clients. Acer shirasawanum 'Moonrise'™
A selected seedling from Acer shirasawanum made by Carl Munn in the late 1980's. Observed for many years to determine its overall characteristics it was patented (PP #16718) and released a few years ago. Emerging spring leaves are a vivid carmine red with lime green veins. Mature foliage is carmine red with gold and lime highlights. In areas with hot summers may need some protection from the afternoon sun.
Red over yellow spring growth turns gold for summer, lime-green in shade. Fall carmine-red over yellow. Zones 5-8.
