Nursery contributed plant descriptions

"A superlative ornamental" (Arnoldia), the dense, close-knit branch structure of this 30-40' x 20-30' upright, oval-to-fan shaped tree make it an effective and handsome screen and a highly-rated shade or street tree. S/M
This deciduous, upright symmetrical specimen presents a formal, clean appearance and becomes tear-drop shaped with age. The foliage is bright green and dense during the summer, and turns yellow in the fall. Suitable for a wide range of conditions including some air pollution. Great for a tall screen, hedge, or street tree. Growth Rate medium
An excellent ornamental because of its clean foliage, generally, upright growth habit, and adaptability. Branches ascend, but its form is not columnar in outline. It has a wide, round base and typically lacks a central leader so it usually becomes a "pregnant teenager".
One of the best columnar trees for general garden usage. 1st rate street tree. Grows more pyramidal with age. Old trees may reach 30-40' tall. Awards: Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. Recommended by: the United States National Arboretum.
