Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Jeweled Dragon Cryptomeria. Unique, broadly pyramidal, spreading shrub with tufts of dense foliage developing along stems late in the season after an initial burst of elongated "normal" foliage; providing a very unusual effect and a very beautiful specimen in a relatively short period of time. Ideal for a non-formal, quick-to-establish, low maintenance hedge, in full sun or very light shade.
Gyokuryu Japanese Ceder grows as a very tight upright pyramid. Branches and leaves are dense and full. Foliage is more dark green than the species and it holds it's color well in cold weather with little bronzing. Grows 5-6' in 10 years.

In the early stages, this plant spends part of it's growing period is horizontal, we call that the "nesting" stage. With some maturity, the plant sends up an ever stronger leader, and ends up as an almost perfect pyramid. New foliage tips look like fiberoptic lights. Wonderful!
