A shrub for all gardens, the wonderful, fully-double blue flowers bloom from summer into fall on an 8-12' shrub that is sterile, heat, drought and salt-tolerant. It also brings in the hummingbirds and butterflies; a real gem as a specimen and a total knock out as a hedge! S/M USPP 20574
The cool blue, frilly double flowers of Blue Chiffon™ Althea are sure to make summer feel like spring again with its large flowers that are born in abundance on a vigorous and easy to grow upright to vase-shaped deciduous shrub. Altheas need little maintenance once established. Prune to shape as desired in late winter and you can train them into tree standards, hedges, or allow them to become specimens.
Prolific blooming, Hardy Hibiscus 'Blue Chiffon' has large, sky-blue flowers with layers of petals that give it a semidouble appearance that's complemented by burgundy highlights in the center of each flower. You'll be impressed with the large bloom size; these dramatic flowers easily measure 4-5" across. Blooming summer to fall, 'Blue Chiffon' is a large plant that reaches 5-8' tall when fully mature. It makes a beautiful blue-flowering shrub that's a focal point in any landscape.
Large single blue flowers with lacy center and red streaks, deciduous, deer resistant, drought tolerant. Zones 5-8
