Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Our original tree planted in the 1950's is very consistent year to year. The deep pink 8” flowers cover the plant. In late summer, the 6”-8” contorted pink pods hang from the tree and the pileated woodpecker spends a couple weeks harvesting the orange seeds.
Beautiful cup-shaped, 12 tepaled pink blooms on this erect tree. It flowers earlier and is nicely fragrant. The overall size can reach 50 ft. tall by 30 ft. wide and this selection has been shown to be fairly hardy. Jim Gardiner even put 'Diva' on the front cover of Magnolias: A Gardener's Guide.
A deciduous tree to 50', this tree flowers early and profusely with the large rose colored flowers you see here. It flowers fairly late and thus usually escapes frost damage. The seed pods are bright red and very showy in the fall. zone 6
