Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Similar to M. wilsonii but the flowers are held as an opened bud. The large goose egg flowers are very pretty. Very rare hence the price.
I've had Magnolia globosa growing in my scionblock for many years. It is only about 8' tall and as wide. The flowers are fragrant and hang like eggs, barely opening, but the leaves are much more interesting. They are think and shiny and rough on top with a brown indumentum. This is not a hardy tree however. Maybe zone 7 is as low as it will go. For description and pic go to http://www.magnoliastore.com/ and hit the Collection tab at the top.
