Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This exciting hybrid between eastern and western flowering dogwoods creates a magnificent, upright 25-40' tree. Spring brings masses of large (up to 6"!) and much-loved pure-white flowers, some with 4 petals and some with 5. An exquisite specimen tree which turns brilliant scarlet in autumn. Very disease resistant and will tolerate some drought when established. The 'Eddie' in its name is for the late nurseryman and rosarian Henry Matheson Eddie. S-PSh/M
Eddies White Wonder - Beautiful white flowers grow to more than four inches in diameter in the spring. Composed of four to six large, rounded and overlapping bracts, these blooms create a striking display in the spring. Dark green summer foliage is handsome throughout the summer months, and turns to rich red in the fall. Small red fruits decorate its branches in winter
This is a cross between our native Western dogwood, Cornus nuttallii, and the Eastern North American species, Cornus florida. 'Eddie's' large flowers open in early spring, creamy-white and profuse like a tree covered in snow; lax, layered branching creates a mounding effect. Fall color is a brilliant red and soft pink, the pink on the reverse of the leaf. (It has shown resistance to dogwood anthracnose, a common foliage disease.) It loves to attract birds. 35'Tx25'W Minimum temperature: 0?F
Deciduous, fairly small tree with tiny, purplish-green flowers surrounded by white bracts in May. Green leaves turn shades of orange, red and purple in the fall. Growth Rate slow to medium
Large flowers, exceptionally fast hybrid growth, and attractive tree-like structure make this cultivar an attractive, if under-used plant for the Pacific Northwest.
Tree to 35'; free flowering with large white bracts.
