Small maple (up to 15'). The variegated leaves are pink when they first appear. Later in the season, the leaves will be light green, cream and pink.
The deeply divided leaves of this amazing dwarf (to only 3') open in delicate shades of pink and cream flecked with green; summer turns the cream to yellow-green but the pink remains!; a lovely patio or container plant. PSh-S/M
Geisha, as a cultivar has been around for a number of years and is listed in J.D. Vertrees book Japanese Maples, 2nd edition. Initially from New Zealand and imported by Talon Buchholz of Gaston, OR. This cultivar is a wonderful pink from spring through summer turning scarlet in the fall. Ideal sunlight would be morning through mid-afternoon with some shade protection during the hottest part of the day. Geisha is a slow growing cultivar and often grafted high for a better display of color. The signature variegation for “Geisha” is a dark green contorted spot on a leaf and sometimes the whole leaf is contorted. Collector’s only please as Geisha is very temperamental.

Geisha is truly fascinating as it changes color throughout the growing season. Spring leaves emerge speckled rose, turning to hot pink and cream. Summer leaves are pink and green. A very choice variegated Japanese Maple.
This slow-growing, bushy form of Japanese maple boasts remarkable coloring. Soft pink to white spring leaves are flecked delicately with green dots. As the season progresses, the white parts turn pale yellow-green and the veins turn green, but the pink tone persists. Fall features orange, pink and crimson foliage. Extremely tender: provide semi-shade and protection. Ideal for a container.
Uniquely different variegated dwarf maple. Deeply divided leaves open in spring in shades of pink to cream, lightly flecked with green spots and patches. Sometimes a predominately green leaf will appear in the mix. In time 'Geisha' will reach three feet high and wide. Good for containers and patios.
Geisha has the first requirement of a plant that will make it big in the trade: a great name. Unfortunately it is lacking in the others. I'm kidding. It is totally darling with bright red leaves in the spring with dark green spots, but it has a small problem: it is not stable. You don't know what it will look like from one growth spurt to the next. I would toss it except that even the reversions are interesting.
