Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This charming birch is quite distinct with its very deeply cut-leaves (the most cut of any of the birches), picturesque form and its unique branch structure, the branches first grow at an upward angle and then just the outermost branches hang down pendulously reaching 30-60' with a somewhat open rounded habit, its almost ferny leaves are a deep-dark green all summer and turn spectacular shades of gold in autumn, both look stunning next to the stark white peeling bark; often sold as the 'Swedish' birch, it is the National Tree of Sweden; a wonderful specimen tree.
