Sensu is another new cultivar introduced by Talon Buchholz of Buchholz Nursery in Gaston, Oregon. The name Sensu is Japanese means ‘moving fan.’ New growth is variegated from light green to gold to bronze. Summer color is green, gold and orange changing to pumpkin orange in the fall and then crimson red. Sensu can handle full sun to partial shade. Sensu grows gracefully into a tree of about 8-9′ tall. Overall Sensu has a compact shape that makes it perfect for a smaller space. Once established hardy to USDA zone 5.

Slender in habit and possibly reaching 8 feet in height, 'Sensu' is perfect for small garden spots. Sensu means "folding fan" and as the new leaves unfold in spring they have a wash of orange which settles out to medium green through summer, and finally a rich crimson in fall. Elegant. Beautiful red seeds are held above the branches like jewels. 8'T x 8'W.
