Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This small 15-25' shrub/tree from the forested areas of China and Korea is somewhat similar to the Japanese Acer sieboldianum hence the 'psuedo'. Beautifully doubly-serrate 9-11 lobed leaves are a deep-green summer before turning outstanding shades of yellow, orange and red in autumn. The flowers are notable as well in that they are purple, giving it another common name of 'purplebloom'; a wonderful accent or specimen plant. S/M
In its native Manchuria to Korea, the Korean Maple is an understory tree, with long, doubly serrate lobes on palmate leaves, dark green, then turning yellow, orange and red in fall. Purple maple flowers in spring are followed by winged samaras. Eventually 15-25 feet tall and sometimes wider.
The outstanding features of this small Asiatic maple are its extreme cold-hardiness and brilliant yellow, red and orange fall color. Not injured by wintertime lows down to -40 °F. This is a full 20 °F colder than the low temperature limit of other Japanese maples! Here's a fine plant to add some spice to gardens in the upper Midwest. Seed source is northeast China.
Upright Spreading. delicate green leaves with small red-purple flowers, bright yellow-orange fall. Hardy to zone 4
This medium growing 20', loosely branched, large leafed tree has the most astounding fall color of any Asian maple.
