A compact, bushy form of 'Sango kaku'! This fine selection from New Zealand has the same soft-green spring leaves held on bright-red shoots, gorgeous crimson fall color and showy coral-red winter twigs; all on a dwarf tree to only 8-12'! This is the ideal tree for small yards and pots. S-PSh/M
A dwarf form of Sango kaku that is not only smaller, but also more compact. Leaves are green in summer, yellow and orange in fall.
This unique specimen draws its name from its bright red, winter stems. Leaves are soft green in spring; turning a lighter green in summer; and a terrific yellow, red, and orange in autumn. Ideal for containers or small yards!

MATSUMURAE, green. Another spectacular dwarf form of the beloved 'Sango kaku'. This one tends to be a little more red, similar to the 'Beni kawa'.

Normally I feel really guilty if I don't have some sort of picture to show, but in this case I don't, because if you have seen Sango Kaku or Beni Kawa (and who hasn't) then you can imagine this tree. Winter Flame is just a little shorter and a little bushier. And more resistant to pseudomonas? Those claims are out there. In my open windy location, pseudomonas is not a problem so I can't test it.
