The 7-lobed fan-like leaves of this upright (to 12') tree move from lovely purplish-red new growth to a shiny, black-red for most of the summer and thence to red and scarlet for fall... a wonderful range of color! S-PSh/M

The plump, rounded leaves of 'O kagami' emerge a purplish-red in spring. The shiny blackish red leaves of summer is what probably gave this cultivar its name, which means "mirror". Bright scarlet fall color is best when grown in full sun, but can range from orange to green in shade. 'O kagami' can grow to a height of 16 feet in ten years.
Acer palmatum 'O kagami' Japanese Maple Tree - Pointed lobes on these shiny dark leaves radiate like an open fan. In late summer some green tones appear. Fall color is scarlet-red. A delightful small tree for all seasons.
PALMATUM, red. This cultivar makes a wonderful addition to the landscape. Densely branching and vase shaped, the splendid burgundy-red of the new foliage changes into glossy blackish-red as the leaves develop. This color lasts until late summer, when shades of dark green blend in. Fall brings on an array of several shades of red and scarlet. A very desirable, upright tree.
