    Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This is a clumping bamboo. If you collect Mexican species for your garden this is a bamboo to try. This Otatea has longer and wider leaves than acuminata. The leaves hang downward and are a beautiful blue green. The culms have a waxy white bloom and in the sun gradually turn burgundy in color.
