Curcuma Scarlet Fever is one of the most dramatic Curcuma hybrids I have seen. The plant grows to 2 to 4 feet tall with large green spear shaped leaves. The main attraction is the bright red stems and red mid-vein down the leaves. The flowers are very beautiful as well growing 8 inches to 1 foot tall and looking like a tropical Popsicle of flowers pink to purple on top and green underneath. It will usually flower in spring before or as the new foliage is emerging.

This special ginger has red stems with a red midrib and grows to around 5 feet. It is similar to C.sp. 'Red Police' but appears to be a little larger. It blooms best in full sun and the bracts are greenish yellow at the base turning to bright pink at the top. Brought into the U.S. by Mike McCaffery in 95'.
