Old Rose Hybrid. Varies from crimson to very deep pink. Approximately 140 petals. Repeat flowering. This variety varies in color from a rich, dark crimson in cooler areas to avery deep pink in the warmer areas. It is distantly related to a Rugosa Rose - a fact that gives it a certain individuality and character and also extra hardiness. It has large, sumptuous blooms with the petals informally although beautifully arranged. A most attractive, rounded and well branched shrub. It has proved to be particularly successful and popular in the warmer parts if the U.S. It has a good Old Rose fragance. The name is taken from the Dark Lady of Shakespeare's Sonnets. Height 4 ft. x 4 ft. (David Austin 1991, Ausbloom). Large flowers. 140 petals.
