Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Old Rose Hybrid. Bright crimson. Approximately 110 petals. Repeat flowering. The flowers of this variety vie with L.D. Braithwaite for the brightness of the crimson, although this is perhaps slightly lighter. The bloom also is of a rather different shape, being deeply cupped, the outer petals eventually reflexing back. The growth is definitely more vigorous and makes a large rounded shrub although it may benefit from summer pruning to keep it in check. It can also be trained as a first class climber. It has a lovely Old Rose fragrance. Named after the character from Thomas Hardy's novel. Height 4 ft. x 3.5 ft. or 6 to 8 ft. as a climber. (David Austin 1998, Ausmove). Deeply cupped with reflexing petals at the edges flowers. 110 petals.
