A ?most spectacular garden shrub? (G. Edwards) describes this 3-4 footer when covered with showy crimson semi-double flowers striped gaily with white and pink one of history?s most famous roses named for King Henry II?s mistress. S-PSh/M
Crimson striped with white. (Gallica) (R. gallica versicolor.) A sport from 'R. Gallica Officinalis' and an equally good shrub but with crimson flowers, striped with white. A very showy plant, giving a wonderful effect in the garden. This rose and 'R. Gallica Officinalis' can sucker freely and so will form a very good hedge. Pure Old Rose fragrance. Once flowering. Height 4ft x 3ft. (Rivers 1837).
