Perhaps the best red "English Rose", this compact 4 footer seems to be Always producing its wonderful, fully dbl ; very fragrant crimson-red flowers.
Old Rose Hybrid. Bright crimson. Approximately 80 petals. Repeat flowering. This rose has the brightest crimson coloring of all the English Roses; standing out when viewed from across the garden. It is related to Mary Rose and has many of that rose's good garden qualities including winter hardiness and ability to grow well in hot areas. The flowers open wide and slightly cupped. They are produced freely and iwth remarkable continuity. There is only a light scent, until the flower ages, when it develops a charming Old Rose fragrance. L.D. Braithwaite was David Austin's father-in-law. Height 4.5 ft. x 4 ft. (David Austin 1988, Auscrim). Slightly cupped flowers. 80 petals.
