Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Leander Hybrid. Orange-red. Approximately 70 petals. Repeat flowering. ‘Christopher Marlowe’ has flowers of unusually strong coloring for and English Rose. The rosette-shaped blooms start an intense orange-red which pales first to salmon-pink and finally to soft pink. Closer examination reveals that the underside of the petals are soft yellow and so creating an interesting contrast in the button-eye center. The growth is relatively short; the stems arching over to produce a most attractive, well-rounded shrub. It is particularly free-flowering. The fragrance is Tea with a hint of lemon. Named for the well-known playright who was a contemporary of William Shakespeare. Height 2 ½ x 3 ft. (David Austin 2002, Ausjump). Rosette shaped flowers. 70 petals.
