A slightly uncommon, woody self-clinging climber with broad, ovate dark green leaves that copes with the shade or northern aspect, and midsummer small FRAGRANT creamy white flowers. Best grown 24" from the host support fence, stump or wall. Can itself form a climbing frame for a Clematis , e.g. 'Miss Bateman' or 'Dutchess of Edinborough' or other herbaceous climber.
A Japanese hydrangea vine with white blooms and deep green leaves. It features 8-10" wide flat-topped, lace cap-type hydrangea flower clusters which bloom for 6-8 weeks July/August.. Each showy sterile floret features only one large, petal-like, white sepal set above 3-5" heart-shaped, serrate, deep green leaves which turn yellow in fall. Attaches to and grows up flat surfaces such as masonry walls by stem-borne adhesive rootlets. Reddish brown stems hold some winter interest The species is from Japan and China.
