Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Jeanette' is a hybrid between the hardy blue passion flower and 'Amethyst'. It has deep mauve flowers with a blush of white striping and coronoa filaments with wine purple and blue colouration. Has proven reliably hardy in zone 7. Bury the stem 6 inches deep to improve winter hardiness. Blooms over a long period throughout summer.
3" dark purple and light pink blooms on a somewhat dainty, yet vigorous passion vine. An exceptionally free blooming passion vine with a more containable habit and ultimately creating a small to medium sized tropical vine.
This hybrid was developed in California and is a successful cross of caerulea and Amethyst with certainly some of the best of each. Passiflora Jeanette will bloom all summer, has nice rich green trifoliate leaves and really beautiful flowers. The petals are deep mauve with some white striping down the center. The corona filaments are very long and full with a deep, almost burgundy, purple base and blue at the ends. best of all, it's proven to be reliably hardy in zone 7 and even has been successfully grown in parts of zone 6. Protected locations are best for colder climates. Hybrid Passion Flower Vine.
Our clone of 'Jeanette' originally came from cuttings at Scott Arboretum (Swarthmore, PA) where it was growing on an unprotected Lamp Post, so it's clearly hardier than generally reported on the Internet (7B) or maybe it's just this particular clone. (You should still mulch well -- layers of leaves are great -- in winter.) Beautiful mauve/wine w/ purple blooms all the time in warm areas and all summer in cold areas because it's sterile and never sets seed so-o-o-o-o it puts all of it's energy into blooming rather than setting seed/fruit! A terribly rare Passion Vine and a rare color in a hardy hybrid Passion Vine.
