Nursery contributed plant descriptions

An exceptionally free flowering passionvine, Lady Lavender produces 3-4" wide, lightly fragrant flowers with purple sepals and petals that fade to near white near their base. The flowers are topped by a corona of blue filaments that fade to white and then darken to deep burgundy at their base. Lady Lavender Passionflower is a sterile Patrick Worley cultivar considered to be hardy to near 10oF. It is large and vigorous enough to cover a medium to large trellis easily in one season or it can be enjoyed as a container plant where not hardy. Provide a full to mostly sunny location and a moderately fertile soil with average drainage for the best flowering. Lady Lavender Passionvine is considered to be pollen sterile and so should not be expected to be an adequate pollinator for other Passiflora species and cultivars. This is a cross between P. amethystina and P. caerulea.
This vigorous hybrid is ranked at the top for its floriferous nature and ease of flowering. Like the jewels of its namesake, its color is rich and distinctive. We've used it with great success to fill hanging baskets or during the summer months to climb on fence posts or porch railings.
Plum-colored 'Amethyst' blooms freely and reliably, making it an excellent pot and basket variety. Overwinter indoors on the window sill on a tray of pebbles to provide humidity, it will reward you with continuing bloom.
An older selection that still ranks among the most beautiful. Best in a warmer climate, but works well as a container plant to bring inside for winter up north. Blooms from spring to fall.
A beautiful other-worldly purple bloom. Not overly hardy but stunning! Will take Frost but not really cold weather down to freezing unless the stems have reached a point where they're woody.. But wow, grown under glass or in warm areas, it blooms from May until December! Now that's a power bloomer! The bowl-shaped blooms are purple, with a blue tinge and can be 10cm (4in) across. An older selection that still ranks among the most beautiful.
