Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Herbaceous climbing vine with exquisite ferny bright-green foliage. Stems arise in spring from a thick tuber and climb to 16-20" feet --taller than Dicentra scandens and with a round, plump seed pods. Flowering from summer thru late Fall with the classic Bleeding Heart bloom but in pure yellow in drooping clusters which become tinged with orange red at the tips with age. Wonderful climbing thru shrubs or up small trees. From the Himalayas and Nepal, the pale green foliage has almost silver markings which gives it's a wonderful luster AND distinguishes from D. scandens. This recent introduction is one of the best. Protect from Spring frosts. Slightly larger flower, somewhat more angular in shape with sharper corners than D. scandens. A much larger plant which can form a huge basal clump up to 36" across. Blooms for months and is slow to set seed.
