This is one of the most popular of all shrubs, with good reason! Bright, pink-red buds open to rounded clusters of pure white flowers which emit a strong, sweet daphne-like fragrance. One of the most sought-after Viburnum species, Korean Spice (often also written Koreanspice) Viburnum features small fuzzy leaves and extra sweet flowers in mid-spring. The rounded white flowers are shaped like snowballs and give this species its other common name, Fragrant Snowball Bush. Korean Spice Viburnum is easy to grow under most conditions and naturally develops a compact form with attractive leaves which turn red in the fall. Any pruning should be done in early summer as winter pruning can reduce the number of flowers produced in the spring.

'Carlcephalum' is a hybrid variety of Viburnum carlesii which blooms a few weeks later and is more fragrant than the typical species.
