Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This small umbrella-shaped tree with its stiffly pendulous branches, so perfect for a small Japanese-style garden, was first found on the banks of the River Ayr in Scotland; loaded with silvery catkins in spring. S/M-W
Weeping Pussy Willow is one of our favorite weeping plants because of its fast growth, tight form, and attractive catkin flowers in early spring. The branches always try to grow downward and trees left on their own will spread along the ground, reaching only a foot or two in height. However, if a branch is staked upright it will form a head five or six feet tall with dozens of long branches trailing from the top of the tree. Although these trees are most commonly seen with a straight trunk, we have found that these look a lot better with a few crooks in the trunk to provide extra character in the winter. If you are growing this tree in an area with frequent heavy snows in the winter you should consider tying the top of the tree to a sturdy stake to prevent snow damage.
These are shipped with the lower branches removed and the leader staked upright, remove any side branches that try to grow from below the top crown of the tree throughout the summer. Read this care article about training weeping trees for good form.
Weeping Pussy Willow - Stiffly pendulous branches are advantageous for displaying the fuzzy catkins. Small narrow weeping tree, rarely reaching even 10' tall. Awards: Award of Merit and Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society

A stunning Weeping form of Goat/French Pussy Willow. Doesn't require wet soil once established. Has an abundance of catkins producing lots of pollen and nectar. This is truly a specimen tree for any yard. Compact habit can fit in almost anywhere but place it where the neighbors can drool and lust for it because it's very hard to find in the trade! :-)
