A shrubby, slightly stoloniferous Saint John's Wort with bright yellow flowers in the summer, red berried in the fall, and dark green foliage that is flushed with purple, especially on the new growth. Will die back to the ground after a hard winter, but comes back from the roots.Zone 5
A small growing, deciduous, aromatic shrub from the Mediterranean. The stiff, erect branches bear pairs of waxy, oval leaves which are dark red-purple when young. Small, cupped, bright yellow flowers are borne in Summer to be followed by red, ripening to black, berries.Cut back hard in spring to maintain vigorous young growth. Tolerates dry periods. We think this should prove to be an excellent plant for providing foliage colour in dry gardens. How dry exactly? We will find out in time, but maybe very dry once established.
