This UNIQUE lace-cap surrounds its deep-pink center flowers with large pink double florets--each floret containing 14-16 sepals ("petals") rather than the usual 4!; add dark glossy foliage=a remarkable plant! S-PSh/M
Flowers of the Izu peninsula   This bloom is very unique in its pointed florets and double and triple petals shooting out every direction from the bloom head. Florets are too multiple to count (okay, got to 14 on one petal). It's rare that this Japanese cultivar has dark green foliage but it really just adds to the appearance. Izu No Hana hasn't been in the states for long so don't miss out on this beauty. I've heard rumors that it may be hardier than zone 6, too. Try it in a container.

This Japanese Hydrangea is a blue lacecap, but the infertile flowers are suspended on long graceful peduncles. The bush is short and compact with shiny green leaves set off by obvious veining.
Flattened Lacecap blooms have double ray florets round the edge of the main flower head. The florets are a soft, lilac-pink, extended out on long lovely peduncles and not touching the center composed of tiny deep-pink fertile flowers. This new double lacecap is incredibly lovely. Dark green leaves with prominent veins. Discovered on the Japanese Peninsula of Izu.
