Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A Native deciduous small tree or bush. The white flower clusters, shaped like round pincushions, are most distinctive. The fragrant, honey-like blooms are visited by butterflies, bees and other insects and HUMMINGBIRDS! The seeds are important wildlife food, especially for ducks, and the dense, impenetrable thickets provide nesting and escape cover for many wetland birds. More useful than beautiful, it is nonetheless a worthy plant to consider in a wetland setting for birds and bees if not for the local Garden Club members.
