Nursery contributed plant descriptions

While a new butterfly bush might initially alarm gardeners concerned with potentially invasive plants, Buddleia 'Asian Moon' from Dr. Jon Lindstrom at the University of Arkansas is sterile! Its inability to produce seed means this cultivar cannot complete its reproductive cycle by producing seeds and thus blooms over an extended flowering season as the plant continues (futilely) to try to produce seeds. The flowers are light purple with orange throats. The foliage is light green with silvery undersides.

Because they?re sterile, the soft-purple, orange-throated flower clusters on this symmetrical 3-7' shrub last longer... extending that sweet end-of-summer butterfly-bush season AND they won?t spread!; from Unv. of Ark. S/M

Tiny purple flowers with orange throats clustered at the tops of arching branches. Vigorous grower to seven feet but is easily controlled by pruning to keep a dense shape. Flowers are sterile. Growth Rate fast

IT'S STERILE! Finally for those worried about self-seeding Buddleias, Dr. John LIndstrom of the U. of Ark. has introduced the wonderful new 'Asian Moon'. Because it can't complete it's reproductive cycle and make seeds, it just determinedly puts all it's efforts into blooms over very long season. The blooms are light purple with orange throats. The light green foliage has silvery undersides.
