Nursery contributed plant descriptions

More delicate in appearance than most butterfly bushes, because of its small, fine-textured leaves; large shrub with gracefully arching branches wreathed, in spring, with lightly fragrant lilac flowers. S/M
This 6 – 8' tall and wide multi-stemmed deciduous shrub has narrow silver leaves and a fountain of cascading, fragrant, lavender flowers in spring on the previous season's growth. This one doesn't have to be cut back. It's always a butterfly, bee, and hummingbird draw. Place it just about anywhere it can get plenty of sun and it will tolerate just about any kind of soil that happens to be there. Easy and very rewarding — a garden spectacle!
A medium, weeping, winter deciduous shrub. The slender, arching branches are clothed in small, alternating, dark green, lance shaped foliage. In spring, on the previous years growth, clusters of small, lilac, richly perfumed flowers, encircle the branches along their length. Prune after flowering if necessary. Makes one of the most splendid standards.

Graceful, cascading branches, looks similar to a dwarf, silver weeping willow until they bloom with long, arches branches exploding with fragrant, lavender-purple blooms 18" long. It can be trained to a single stemmed standard or left to it's own natural multi-stemmed form which gives rise to it's common name, 'Fountain' Butterfly Bush. Unlike most Buddleias, it blooms unexpectedly in SPRING! Needs either no fertilizer or a low Nitrogen fertilizer. High Nitrogen promotes foliage over blooms. Blooms on OLD wood, so prune only after blooming. This does not die back to the ground in cold areas like B. davidiis. Please know, it's slow and diminutive as a first year plant. Please don't expect a robust bigster like the B. davidiis. It's much more delicate looking and starts showing the weeping habit early so are usually flopped over in the pot!
