Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A very rare and unusual form of chaste tree! It features highly serrated and slender foliage that looks remarkably similar to Cannabis. This 15' shrub is covered with masses of lovely pale lavender-blue flowers in late summer. An interesting species which is hardier than most Vitex and was introduced out of Africa in 1967. This is a wonderful shrub for pollinator and water-wise gardens. S/M-D
Another very rare form of Vitex. In the South, it will hold a tree form. Here, in Zone 7 it will behave like a Crape Myrtle, die back then re-sprout in Spring. Interesting foliage texture & late season flowers. Will flower recurrently through the season as long as new stems are developing & when deadheaded. Native to Africa; introduced in 1697. Prune to 6-12" or to live wood in spring in cold area. This form has very serrate or toothed slender foliage like Cannabis - Marijuana -- hence the name. Hardiest genus of Vitex, to -10 degrees.
