Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This is our southeastern U.S. native. Will make a 10'-12' shrub. The flowers are large (2”) white and look somewhat like a single camellia. The stamens are deep dark purple. These are 2 years old. We have grown from seed collected in the wild by Jack Johnston. Thanks Jack. These are small but very healthy.
A large shrub to medium tree. This US Native is an understory tree in the woods so grows in part shade. Surprisingly large 2.5-3.5" white blooms are quite eye-catching and unusual. Not what you're expecting at all in the woods! But look more closely -- they also have purple filaments and blue anthers! This native from Texas to Virginia is slow growing and very difficult to propagate - hence the hefty price. Doesn't like being move once transplanted.
