Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This gorgeous and rare 30-50' tree blooms very early in spring (late-February). The early blossoms give it the pretty name of 'Hope of Spring'. A delightful tree from China, it produces an abundance of deliciously lemon-scented white flowers followed by dark-green willow-like leaves. This makes an incredible specimen tree for any landscape. S/M
MAGNOLIA ‘BIONDII’ - is the first Magnolia to bloom. Usually in late February. The small white flowers seem to miss the frost many years. This is a mass effect bloom. The flowers are small, but appear by the hundreds.
With white flowers with a pink to purple flush to their base and smell like LEMONS and shiny green leaves, this Chinese Magnolia is a delight. The blooms appear before the foliage. A deciduous form that can be grown as a shrub or tree. This rare, hardy Chinese species is related to M. salicifolia and was introduced into cultivation in 1977 but it's next to impossible to find in the trade. Can form a big tree. Buds look like Pussy Willow buds.
