Nursery contributed plant descriptions

San Antonio Rose is unique in so many ways. A cross between H. Aulicum Stenopetalum x Traubii forma Doraniae, it is one of the only Amaryllis that is product of Embryo rescue (nature needed a little help to get the seeds to germinate). It is a reliable summer blooming amaryllis. SAR stays evergreen in areas without hard frosts. The leaves are actually quite decorative, with a maroon stipe on the back. It does not set seeds, although its pollen is fertile with other diploid Hippeastrum. San Antonio Rose is smaller than most amaryllis. The bulbs we have for sale are about the size of a golf ball. They multiply quickly, some would say to a fault. Prepare to share with friends.
