This species is closely related to Arisaema. costatum and A. speciosum. It has green, sometimes purple-flushed, spathes with subtle white striping. Its most intriguing characteristic is the long thread-like spadix appendage which usually gets caught on the emerging leaf and hangs twisted from the leaflets. If you unwind this appendage it can often be more than three feet long! Easy to grow in part shade and light compost rich in humus. From Kashmir, India, Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan.
Blooms: spring, Trifoliate foliage. Green spathe with long green whip like spadex that is often a couple of feet long. Very strange looking. Zone 6-8. Himalayas, part shade, moist, humus rich well drained.
From the Himalayan Mountains. Requires mulch for protection in colder areas. Intermediums Spadix has more twists and turns than a switch back canyon, but without the nausea. Healthy Full Size Bulbs. Best handled and transported during the cold season.
