Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Crinum x powellii is a hardy, easy-to-grow amaryllis relative has bold strap like leaves rising from large fleshy bulbs. In summer the foliage is topped with pink amaryllis-like flowers over a long period. This hybrid was bred in the 19th century in England from the two hardiest crinums, both South African species: C. bulbispermum and C. moorei.
Umbels of trumpet-shaped, deep pink flowers sit atop four foot scapes in mid to late summer. The scent is delicious, heavy and spicy. This variety one of the most cold-hardy; Powellii is recommended if you're on the edge of the hardiness range for crinums.

These flowers are extremely easy to grow. The bulb multiply very well so soon you will have many more than three crinum plants. Beautiful Pink blooms. Crinum are the giants of the bulb world. These South African natives are nearly indestructible perennials in mild climates. They can bloom repeatedly once established. A truely valuable gem for the Southern landscape, these bulbs will likely outlive the gardener. Bulb size: 18+ cm around
