Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Patio or container plant with huge umbels of bright orange flowers. These are seedlings from a superior flowering form and may take two years to flower. Evergreen leaves. Will take shade. Tender.
This beautiful winter bloomer rewards one's senses with deep orange flowers emanating from sunshine-yellow centers. A native to Natal, South Africa, it is a member of the Amaryllis family. In early winter, it requires cool night temperatures and a little drier culture to bring it into flower. Nearly indestructible as a container plant, dryness and low humidity do it no harm.
Not quite hardy but fantastic as a patio and houseplant, C. miniata has been a favourite of plantlovers since Victorian times. The dark green, strap-like foliage shows off the beautiful clusters of glowing orange and yellow flowers in late spring or summer. The resulting large fruit lasts for two years, first green then brilliant red which is fantastic against the foliage. Minimum two degrees Celsius.
KAFFIR LILY - BUSH LILY - ST. JOHN'S LILY - FIRE LILY - A easy rugged houseplant demanding very little care. Likes bright light - watered well - then let dry especially in fall and early winter - resume watering once flowering begins in spring thru late summer. Grows up to 18" and does not like temps below 50 degrees. Large umbels of 12-20 trumpet shaped fragrant orange flowers on strong stems.
These newly imported plants are 1/2 our usual low price. These are 4-5 year old plants, but their leaves and roots were trimmed to simplify transport from India. They will grow new roots and leaves and generally recover within a year or so of planting. This is a wonderful houseplant or shade-loving perennial for frost free areas. They are normally rather expensive, but I have imported a large number of these from some friends in India. I can sell them now for what I believe is the best price on the web! Don't expose to direct sunlight as this will burn their leaves! They have survived light frosts for me (next to the house) but they might not survive a hard freeze. Here in Arizona, zone 8 I've had them survive under a foot of snow, but they died down to the ground which is NOT good for them.
