Agapanthus 'Polar Ice' plant details

Brilliant white flower globes in spring and summer on this hardier-than-most Agapanthus. If you long for that front of the border Agapanthus elegance but wish it was a bit more cold hardy, this is a good one. Just keep in mind it dislikes being soggy and frozen, so plant it in a spot with good drainage, like a rock garden if you're lucky enough to have one. Or consider keeping it in a container where you can scoot it under the eaves during winter wet.

Agapanthus 'Polar Ice' is a broadleaf deciduous perennial bulb / corm / tuber with green foliage. In spring and summer white flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - dappled shade and regular - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This pure white agapanthus is a wonderful change to the normal blue varieties. This smaller (12'-18') agapanthus is a great plant for mid summer bloom
Agapanthus 'Polar Ice' is one of the hardiest whites bearing large, rounded umbels of white, trumpet-shaped blossoms on stout, strong stems. Similar to the 'Headbourne Hybrids'. Herbaceous, going fully dormant in winter.
Polar Ice is a new deciduous variety from the Netherlands. Since it looses its leaves for the winter, it is more cold hardy than the evergreen types. It may be able to survive down to zone 5 or 6 with protection, but we can't guarantee anything below zone 7. The key is to keep the soil around the roots dry and unfrozen during winter. These also make good potted subjects. Agapanthus produce flowers prolifically through the spring and summer. The foliage and blooming habbits supperficially resembles that of a Day-Lily. They like more sun in cool climates, and more shade in hot areas. The tall, long lasting umbles produce dozens, even hundreds of small flowers for a striking display. The divisions for sale are newly imported from the Netherlands.. They grow quickly, but do not always bloom the first year. WE CAN NOT SHIP LIVE PLANTS INTERNATIONALLY!
