Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A stunning member of the Winter Thrillers? series which boasts double petalled, 3 inch, nearly black flowers with contrasting yellow stamens. Their color is retained in the late-winte/early-spring landscape for up to 12 weeks, even after the flowers are spent!
Flaunting three times the petals of most Hellebore blossoms, large lusty black double flowers, enhanced by buttery yellow stamens, distinguish this marvelous new Chris Hansen introduction. Borne on strong stems, the swank outfacing blooms, which span over 3 in., maintain their splendor for twice as long as their single flowering counterparts and unleash tantalizing drama into any garden setting. Rare, highly coveted, and deer-proof, ‘Midnight Ruffles’ also furnishes glossy good-looking evergreen foliage for your year-round enjoyment. Blooms January–March.
This vigorous strain produces an abundance of very large 3_", double black flowers. Bright yellow nectaries contrast vividly in the centre of each purple flower. Mature plants can have over 50 flowers at once held up on strong stems above the foliage! The Winter Thrillers Series is bred by Chris Hansen who has spent more 20 years perfecting his strains. Exact flower colour will vary between plants as this is a seed strain. Deer resistant. Perennial Plant of the Year 2005.
Oh my! This rare, double-black form has triple the number of petals of a typical Hellebore blossom and can reach over 3" across! Black doubles have been the most sought-after color by gardeners in the United States and Chris Hansen's new vigorous strain is sure to please! These showy flowers have an added benefit of keeping their bloom for TWICE as long as the single forms. Stems are strong enought to support this double wonder. Foliage is handsome, evergreen and deer-proof. 18-22" tall.
