We succumbed. We trialed a few Delphiniums in 2010, just because they are so beautiful. 'Crystal Delight', developed in Scotland, was one that was truly extraordinary. Each floret was an exquisite boss of petals in shades ranging from pale green through shades of blue to lavender. 'Crystal Delight' bloomed for weeks from mid June through July, but finally rested due to a rather hot dry summer season. The plants looked healthy enough going into the winter, but we shall see if once again Delphinium deserve their reputation as rather expensive annuals. 4-5' tall, preferring neutral or slightly alkaline soil.
