Low growing (2 1/2') and spreading groundcover sumac for massing or bank control; leaves are aromatic when crushed, as are small yellow spring flowers, and it really shines in fall when glossy trifoliate leaves turn shades of gold, orange, and red. S/M-D
A low, wide spreading, deciduous shrub or ground cover. Leaves and twigs are aromatic when crushed, hence the species name. Small yellow flowers arrive in early spring before the foliage appears. Fall color is a pleasing combination of bright red and orange. Although the leaves do resemble another member of its family, poison ivy, the fragrant sumac is non-poisonous. Great choice for stabilizing banks as a groundcover, areas with poor soils, or for anywhere where a splash of fantastic fall color is needed! Growth Rate medium
A go-to plant for dry, sunny spots like that slope where nothing else will grow. Spreads by suckering so it's a good plant for preventing erosion. Small yellow flowers in Spring are fragrant , followed by lustrous green leaves that turn spectacular shades of orange and red in Fall.
